Police parade four suspects for stealing phones during Akeredolu’s second term inauguration

The Police in Ondo State have paraded four suspects for stealing phones at the 2nd term  inauguration ceremony of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu held at the international culture and events centre in Akure.


The suspects, according to the spokesman of the state police command, Tee Leo- Ikoro came from the neighbouring states of Osun, Oyo and Kwara to snatch phones from dignatries


He added that the suspects were handed to them by the office of the senior special assistant to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu on Special duties .


He said , "During the inauguration ceremony of the Governor of Ondo State for second term in office at the Dome Akure. distress calls were received from some groups of peeple who  specialised in snatching phones and other valuables came from different states to attend the  ceremony .


"They  succeeded in  snatching phones from people who attend the ceremony. And  on receipt of these  complaints, detectives from CP's Special operatnon Squad Akure swing into action and four persons were apprehended.

 

"They were arrested along IleshalAkure express road and seven handsets were recovered from them. 


"Upon interrogation. they confessed to the commission of the crime and claimed that they come to Akure from Oyo state. Osun State and Kwara State respectively. purposes to steal phones and other valuables".


He noted that  the suspects will be arraigned in court at the conclusion of investigation.
