ONDO STATE COUNCILORS FORUM SEEK PRESIDENT TINUBU'S INTERVENTION OVER APC NWC APPEAL COMMITTEE DECISION
The Ondo State councilors forum lead by RT Adeniyi adetoye have appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene in the dispute arising from the decision of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Working Committee (NWC) Appeal Committee, which overturned the results of the party's primary elections in several constituencies across the state.
Addressing journalists at a press conference, the Chairman of the councilors forum, Rt. Hon. Adeniyi Adeoye, said President Tinubu's timely intervention would help restore confidence among party members, promote reconciliation, and further strengthen unity within the APC.
Rt. Hon. Adeoye, alongside with all councilors in Ondo state @ alagbaka Areas of the state, maintained that the primary elections conducted between May 16 and May 23, 2026, were free, fair, transparent, and credible, reflecting the true will of party members.
Ondo State councilors reaffirmed their loyalty to the All Progressives Congress and called on members to remain calm, peaceful, and united while awaiting the final decision of the party's National Working Committee (NWC).
Clarifying their position, Rt. Hon. Adeoye emphasized that their action should not be interpreted as a protest but as a genuine and respectful appeal to the leadership of the party.
"Our mission is simply to appeal to the National Working Committee to uphold the integrity of the democratic process."
He explained that the intervention by the legislative leaders was driven by their commitment to safeguarding the credibility of the party's internal electoral process and preserving the confidence of members who participated in the primaries.
"On behalf of the people we represent, we respectfully appeal for the outcome of the primary elections conducted in Ondo State to be respected. We stand firmly by the elections held in the state and the results they produced. That remains our position."
They equally commended the Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, for his leadership and sustained efforts in promoting peace, unity, and stability within the state and the All Progressives Congress.
