A total of 163 qualified graduates of the School of Dispensing Opticianry of the College of Health Technology (MCHT), Akure have been inducted at the college.
The were inducted at a two- day event held amidst pomp and pagentry and ceremony.
17 Regular Students graduated with Distinctions, just as 40 out of the 146 Special Students graduated with Distinctions, 67 had Upper Credit, while 39 graduated with Credit.
Speaking at the colourful ceremony, the Provost, Millennium College of Health Technology (MCHT), Mrs Ayodele Adinlewa, assured that the College would continue to raise quality, skilful and self-reliant middle level health personnel who are capable of making modest contributions to national health development.
The Provost who that the inductees have been well tutored and trained to be self-reliant and positively change the world, equally congratulated them on their academic success and charged them to be good ambassadors of the school while always strive for excellence.
The colourful event also had in attendance, the Registrar, Optometrist and Dispensing Opticians Registration Board of Nigeria (ODORBN), Professor Ebele Uzodike; the President Association of Nigerian Dispensing Opticians, David Mallim; the Chairman, Governing Council of Millennium College of Health Technology, Mrs Caroline Ogunbadenusi; the Registrar, Mr Samuel Awoniyi; the Librarian, Mrs Samuel Kosoko, the Bursar, Mrs Dupe-Balogun Alice; HOD Opticianry Department, Oparaku Philemon, among other staff of the College.
Mrs Adinlewa specifically commended the Registrar, Optometrist and Dispensing Opticians Registration Board of Nigeria (ODORBN), Professor Ebele Uzodike; for her tireless efforts and vision to ensure that Dispensing Opticianry is well regulated and that the profession has its place of pride in the society.
She charged all the inductees to be ready and eager to seize all the new opportunities that life would present unto them beginning from now, and continue to develop themselves in order to reach the peak of their careers.
The Provost revealed that Millennium College of Health Technology has competent, seasoned and experienced lecturers and other resource personnel in all the courses being offered by the College.
"Our efforts have been yielding good results. To the glory of God, the departments of Medical Image Processing, Community Health and and Dispensing Opticianry recorded 100% success in their professional exams for the year 2020. The department of Medical Lab Technician recorded 97% and came first among the sixty schools of Health Technology that took part in the exam.
"Millennium College has a total of ten departments (all accredited), namely, departments of Biomedical Engineering, Community Health, Dental Therapy, Dispensing Opticianry, Environmental Health Technology, Health Information Management, Health Assistance, Medical Laboratory Technician, Medical Image Processing and Pharmacy Technician", she added.
Also, the Registrar, Optometrist and Dispensing Opticians Registration Board of Nigeria (ODORBN), Professor Ebele Uzodike, in her address said the inductees beat the challenge set out before them in excelling successfully in their exams.
She added that a lot has been done to ensure the department grows in all aspects, saying the success recorded by the graduating set had proved to be a point added to the school.
In their separate remarks, Best Graduating Student for Regular Programme, Olugbade Elizabeth and Best Graduating Student for Special Programme,…Philemon Uzondu, expressed their gratitude to God who made it possible to achieve the feat. They equally encouraged the incoming students to always study hard and be in their best at all times.
