Ondo NUT, ASUSS Laud Govt. On Partial Resumption Of Schools, Says More Needs To Be Done

The State Chairman of Nigerian Union of Teachers, Ondo State chapter, Comrade Victor Amoko has commended the state government on the partial reopening of schools saying it is a welcome development towards forging ahead as a nation and empowering future generation.

In a chat with journalists in Akure, the state capital, Comrade Amoko said there is still the need for the state government to also take steps to fumigate schools, ensure a healthy environment as well as provide necessary kits to stem the spread of the virus before it embarks on full reopening of schools across the state.

Comrade Amoko who said the task at hand requires the commitment of parents who must take seriously the responsibility to provide face mask for their wards said the challenges associated with COVID 19 requires sacrifices that must be paid by all towards achieving the ultimate goal.

While assuring the government of the union's support, Comrade Amoko urged teachers to be ready for the task ahead and be prepared to give their best.

Reacting to resumption of schools, Comrade Ballogun Tajudeen, State Chairman of Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools said the union is happy at the development provided government ensures strict compliance to the guidelines as only living souls can study and write examination.

While noting that the COVID 19 has come to stay, Comrade Balogun said the earlier the people get used to living their lives irrespective of the diseases, urged parents to ensure compliance by giving their children and wards nose mask.

On his assessment of the performance of the state government in terms of workers welfare, Comrade Balogun said the present government has done well and should be commended.

Agbetuyii said it was quite unfortunate that the present crop of students who are billed to write exit examination were the ones affected by Ebola outbreak back then.

Mrs. Agbetuyi who said the school is keeping up with all prescribed protocols urged parents to ensure that their children pull off their uniforms outside whenever they get home and treated with hot tea to help their immune system combat any tendencies to come down with the virus.
