"We want to open up another 15km road that will link Akure to Idanre while the road from S.O will be dualized down to Ijoka axis.

"We will move to site in another one or two weeks. We are doing an evaluation of property that will be affected and payment will be done."

The legal practitioner added that the ministry planned the dualization of Akure to Iju Itaogbolu up to the boundary between Ondo and Ekiti State.

On the notorious Oke Oka road in Akoko South East local government area that has been a death trap for travellers, the commissioner hinted that the adjustment on the road was almost completed.

"Also ready for construction is the 4.5km dualization of Ikare road once the evaluation of property is completed".

Hon. Abdulsalam also spoke on the intentions of the government to construct a major road from Araromi seaside in the southern part of the state via Akure to Kogi State.

This, according to him, will serve as a major route connecting the western part of the country with the northern part of the country.

While the quest of getting approval for the construction of a deep sea port remains a herculean task for the government, the commissioner explained that once approved, the project would open up the state to the rest of the world.

"Ondo State has the deepest coastline in Nigeria. The governor has been on the neck of the president to get approval for a deep sea port. From Araromi seaside to Lekki side and we want to make another road, about 150km from Araromi to Akure."

"If you are travelling from here down to Lagos, in another two hours you are in Lekki or Victoria Island. You have shut out traffic already."

The commissioner maintained that the state would enjoy wide infrastructural development before the end of the second year of the present administration.

"Ondo State will be one of the best in terms of road network and infrastructure."
