AAUA Fees protest: Assembly summons governing council, education commissioner in Ondo

In a bid to an end the crisis that has followed the hike in school fees of the Ondo state-owned Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, the State house of assembly has summoned the governing council and management of the institution as well as the commissioner for Education, Femi Agagu.

The Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Bamidele Oleyeloogun gave the directive at plenary he presided over today.

He asked the concern officers to present themselves before the lawmakers by noon tomorrow, Wednesday.

The summon comes after the house yesterday dissociated itself from the school fees hike by the university's governing council.

Speaking on the matter of urgent public importance, majority leader Olugbenga Araoyinbo who moved the motion that the management of AAUA be invited appealed to the students, parents, and citizenry at large to remain calm.

Speaker Bamidele Oleyelogun also promised to wade into the situation and assured the people of the state that there would be a positive change very soon.

The house also invited the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Wahab Adegbenro, Chief Medical Director, State Specialist Hospital, Akure and Special Adviser to the Governor on Health to appear before it tomorrow by 3 pm over the protest by pregnant women on the increase in antenatal fees.
