I’ve Never Been Informed Of ‘Bring Back Our Light’ – Yele Omogunwa

The Senator Representing Ondo south senatorial district at the upper chamber of the National Assembly has said that he has neither been informed nor invited to participate in the movement to restore power to his constituency, termed 'bring back our light'.

Omogunwa made this known during a meeting with youths from Ondo south under the auspices of ONDO SOUTH DEVELOPMENT FORUM.

According to a communique made available to nigeriancablenews.com by the youth group led by comrade Adejare Oluwajuwon Aworetan at the end of the meeting. The senator posited further that many other well meaning stakeholders were sidelined in the struggle, adding that it is not supposed to be so.

THE EXECUTIVE MEMBERS OF ONDO SOUTH DEVELOPMENT FORUM VISIT SENATOR YELE OMOGUNWA ON 9th September 2017

The executive members of Ondo South Development Forum pay a scheduled visit to Senator Yele Omogunwa representing Ondo South Senatorial District at the National Assembly. Sen.Yele in a warmly welcoming speech applauded the executive members for their efforts in bringing the people of six local government of the southern part of the Ondo State together.

He noted that unless a forum like this is alive and functioning in the zone, development might be a bit far from realization. The executive led by the president raised some cogent and pressing issues affecting the southern senatorial district among which are Jamb examination Center, CBT Training Center for people who could not access the computer, and restoration of electricity to the area.

In his reaction, Sen. Yele promises to personally visit the appropriate channels as matter of necessity to ensure that JAMB examination center is restored back to the zone. He called to minds on how he was able to do same for a local government when he was then the commissioner for education in Ondo State.

On Computer Basic Training Center, he promises to work out the modalities to ensure that our young ones especially those that are about writing JAMB got trained for free of charge in that particular period of preparation.

His reaction on electricity was impressive and encouraging. He narrated his meeting with the honorable minister for finance and he will be going back soon to meet her with a blueprint as demanded by the minister. He stressed that until all sons and daughters of the affected zone, both home and abroad comes together and harness resources, quick solution may not be provided.
When asked why he has not been associating with Bring Back our Light Group, he explained that he has never for once been invited for a deliberation or meeting, and not himself alone but lots of well meaning sons and daughters from this affected zone. He further said he has spoken with expertise and all technical information is at his disposal, he reiterated that its not a one man show because the problem is cumbersome and until all hands come together, it may be far from realization.

The assessment of his two years in office was raised during the meeting, he responded by saying, it is a good thing to ask question from people who are saddle with leadership responsibility, he went further to say that, he is not a publicity man and he does not believe in paying people to do social media image laundry.

In his words,the Ondo South Senator said, "Whatever I have done, am doing it for God and for my people." He stressed further that, he has done empowerment twice in two years as a Senator; distribution of motorcycles popularly know as Okada, clothing materials for groups, human empowerment in training individual and groups in some handworks(entrepreneur) and distribution of mattress to hospitals/health centers in the zone. He maintained that he also purchased a grader costing Forty five million Naria (45m) that has worked in two local governments before the raining season and would continue with the work after the rainfall without asking any community for the purchase of diesel for the fueling of the machine. In the same vein, Sen. Yele also said that he is paying some people especially the less privilege, monthly allowance to encourage them.

He affirmed that the duty of a lawmaker, apart from making laws, are to lobby project and contract to their zone. He promises that he will continue to meet up with the expectations of the good people from the South Senatorial district of Ondo State by the grace of God.

In conclusion, he stated that, the youths must at all times endeavor to be good ambassadors wherever they find themselves, and politically, he stressed that unless you choose yourself as a youth, nobody will do that for you, so brace up.
