Ondo State Governor, Mr Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has stated that the water reticulation system used by the Federal University of Technology, Akure, (FUTA), will be imitated by his administration in ensuring that water flows ceaselessly in the state.

The governor made this known during the commissioning of four projects completed by the outgoing Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Adebiyi Daramola.

Akeredolu lauded the efforts of the University in ensuring that water flows ceaselessly round the citadel of learning, he stressed that the water reticulation system will be emulated by the state government because despite the presence of Owena dam, Ondo state cannot still boast of ceaseless water round the state.

In the same vein, the governor also announced that his administration will work with FUTA to establish a technological hub in the institution.

Akeredolu opined that his government will create technological hubs in institutions of learning round the three senatorial districts in the state and that of the central district will be hosted by FUTA.

The governor stated that Ondo state is already becoming a fountain of knowledge and expressed joy at FUTA's contribution towards the state's development. He hinted that some of the consultants he will make use of in moving the state forward will be drawn from the institution.

The projects the governor commissioned included the three in one lecture theatres at Obanla and Ibule-Soro campuses, the water plant and the zero net building of the Centre for Renewable Energy Technology (CRET).

Akeredolu was conducted round the component of the zero-net CRET building by the organisation's director, Professor Olurinde Lafe who revealed that the idea behind the building was drawn from the 18 local governments of Ondo state after a rigorous and thorough screening process.

Professor Lafe stated that the building only needs 5 percent of the energy it produces from it's solar farm and that the remaining percentage goes to the University.

In his remark, the immediate past Vice-Chancellor of the school, Professor Adebiyi Daramola appreciated the governor for his working visit to the campus and enjoined the governor to extend the support of the Ondo state government which he enjoyed during his tenure to his successor, Professor Joseph Fuwape.

The Pro-Chancellor of the University and chairman of council, Senator Joseph Waku praised the Daramola-led administration for transforming FUTA with laudable innovations as well as functional edifices. He expressed optimism that the new Vice-Chancellor would achieve more.
