The Ondo State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko has restated the commitment of his administration to complete and deliver all the ongoing 104 road projects across the state before the end of his second term in office for sustainable growth in the state.
The Governor was speaking during the commissioning of the 22.3km Ikare, Ugbe-Iboropa–Ise road and the Afira Bridge in Akoko North-East Local Government Area of the state.
He stated that his administration is resolute to leave monumental legacies in the area of road development, adding that sustainable road development is needed in Ondo State for the creative development of the state and its people.
Mimiko, who lauded the traditional rulers and the entire people of Akoko land for their support for his administration since coming on board, maintained that his administration is progressively moving forward in giving the people of Ondo State a better road network.
He said; "this administration will continue to place premium on the construction of new roads and rehabilitation of old ones, so as to give those plying these roads the expected comfort in their journeys. 104 road projects will be completed and delivered before the end of this administration."
In his welcome address, the State Commissioner for Works, Engineer Gboye Adegbenro, commended the leadership quality of Governor Olusegun Mimiko, whom he said had made the difference in the state since taking over the mantle of leadership.
He said the road project was not just a dividend of democracy but a sheer display of a revolutionary leadership that permeates the mind of the common man to perceive governance as reaching the unreached rather than flagrant display of power.
Adegbenro disclosed that the present administration in the state has completed forty road projects with a total length of 731km since its inception, promising that his ministry will not relent in its effort to deliver more kilometres of roads in the state.
In his reaction, the Olukare of Ikare, Oba Akadiri Momoh who thanked Dr Mimiko on behalf of Akoko people for the road project, described the road as a short cut for all the Akokos and a gate way to the northern.
