In a bid to strengthen traditional governor in the State, Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa on Thursday, Commissioned the Obas' council secretariat building in Akure the State capital.
In his address, Governor Aiyedatiwa hailed the traditional rulers, stressing that their wisdom, guidance and leadership have been the bedrock of progress and development, ensuring that traditions and culture are upheld and promoted while embracing the opportunities of modern governance.
According to him, the Secretariat stands as a symbol of respect and recognition for the crucial role that the traditional institutions play in governance.
"This will undoubtedly, serve as a centre for administrative excellence, a hub for consultations, and a meeting point for deliberations that will positively impact the development of Ondo State. It is our sincere belief that this facility will enhance coordination, foster unity, enhance quality decision taking and strengthen the traditional institutions that are fundamental to our identity".
The Governor urged the Traditional rulers to make optimal use of the facility to advance the cause of peace, justice, and communal development. "I enjoin you to let this Secretariat be a place where progressive ideas are nurtured, where conflicts are resolved amicably and where the interests of our people remain top priority".
He appreciated all the stakeholders involved in the project and making it a reality.
In his goodwill message, the Chairman of the Ondo State Council of Obas, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, commended the governor for his unwavering support and for delivering a befitting edifice that will serve as a unifying hub for the state's monarchs.
He noted that the secretariat would facilitate improved coordination among traditional rulers and enhance their contributions to governance and community development.
In his address, Engr. Olawoye Ayorinde Abiola, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Infrastructure, Lands, and Housing, described the royal fathers as the custodians of tradition and cultural values, emphasizing their vital role in preserving the rich heritage of Ondo State.
He expressed profound gratitude to the Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, for his unwavering commitment to empowering the traditional institution.
Engr. Abiola noted that the governor's support will significantly benefit the people of Ondo State, strengthen cultural ties, and promote harmonious coexistence.
Delivering the vote of thanks, the Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye, praised Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa as a visionary leader who truly values the traditional institution. He acknowledged the governor's deep respect for royal fathers, describing him as "our man" and a servant leader committed to the welfare of the people.
In attendance were; The Deputy Governor, Dr Olayide Adelami, the State Chairman of APC, Engr Ade Adetimehin, Chief of Staff, Prince Segun Omojuwa, Head of Service, Mr Bayo Philip, traditional rulers, among other top government officials.
