The Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has extended his heartfelt commiserations to the Animasaun Family of Ikare Akoko over the passing of Alhaji Shehudeen Olalekan Animasaun, one of the founding fathers of the State.
Pa Animasaun, a member of the committee that fought for the creation of Ondo State from the old Western region, died at the age of
84 on February 3, 2025, on the 49th anniversary of the State.
He was, until his death, one of the only three living members of the committee. With his demise, the only surviving members of the committee for the creation of Ondo State are Pa Rueben Fasoranti and Basorun Seinde Arogbofa.
Pa Animasaun served as Chairman of the Ondo State Pilgrim Welfare Board between 1976 and 1979, and was a member of the Ondo State House of Assembly between 1982 and 1983.
Governor Aiyedatiwa, in his condolence message, thanked Pa Animasaun for his sacrifices and contributions to the development of the State, describing him as a distinguished educator, leader, and devoted public servant.
The Governor said the journey of the late Pa Animasaun, a man of integrity, humility, and deep faith, was marked by academic excellence, unwavering dedication to knowledge, and impactful service to his community, state, and nation.
Governor Aiyedatiwa said the passing of Pa Animasaun marks the end of a remarkable journey but not the end of his legacy, calling on his descendants to continue to take pride in his illustrious contributions to education, governance, community development and religious leadership.
The Governor, who prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased, promised the support of the government for the family.
