… says govt paid N550 million registration fees for 26,088 students
The Ondo state government has said the challenge of students from the state in accessing their WASSCE results would soon be over.
The State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Olaolu Akindolire, disclosed this while speaking with newsmen in Akure, the state capital.
The West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) had on Monday released the results of the 2024 Secondary School Certificate Examination.
However, students of public schools in Ondo state have been unable to access their results.
Akindolire explained that the state government had taken the issue up with officials of the examination body, attributing it to logistics hitches, which would be resolved soon.
He said the state government had paid about Five Hundred and Fifty Million Naira for 26,088 students that sat for the 2024 WASSCE Examination in the state public schools.
According to him, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa had also approved the balance payment of One Hundred and Fifty Eight Million, Seven Hundred and Sixteen Thousand Naira for the 2024 WASSCE Registration fee for students in public Secondary schools.
The Commissioner added that the governor had also approved about Four Hundred Million Naira for the payment of Scholarship Awards and Bursary to students of the state origin in tertiary institutions across the country.
