The Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa on Saturday, graced the 2024 Oka day celebration, where he reiterated his administration's commitment to support communities' continued growth and development.
Addressing the gathering at the palace of Olubaka of Oka, the Governor congratulated Oka Indigenes on the occasion of Oka day. "I see young and old, from different backgrounds and walks of life, all united in celebration. This is what community is all about – coming together, supporting one another, and lifting each other up".
He acknowledged the tireless efforts of community leaders, volunteers, and residents who have contributed to the community's growth and success. "Your dedication and commitment are the driving force behind this monumental progress.
"As we celebrate today, let us also look to the future. Let us continue to build a community that is inclusive, equitable, and just for all. Let us work together to address the challenges we face and seize the opportunities that lie ahead".
He said "We shall continue to invest in initiatives that benefit our residents, support local businesses, and enhance our quality of life. Apart from this, we remain committed to our constitutional mandate of providing for the welfare and security of the people of Ondo State".
"I must also express our profound appreciation to you for your continued cooperation, loyalty and support to our adminisration. While we promise not to relent in reciprocating your patriotism, we shall continue to look forward to more collabor atión in the months ahead as we approach the up-coming Nov 16th 2024 gubernatorial election in our dear State.
"We must ensure that we have a peaceful, free and credible election. Let us therefore keep educating our people, especially the youth on our OMOLUABI virtues being the legacies passed to our generation by our elderstatesmen and founding fathers.
"Government is aware of the hardship foisted on the people by the global economic challenges of the moment. We assure you that we are into effective collaboration with the President and Commander-In-Chief Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, GCFR, to bring succour and relief, so that life can be more meaningful. Our collabortive efforts on Agricutlure and food security will not only make food available but also affordable.
Earlier in his adress, the chairman, planning committee, Mr Alfred Omosola, stated that Oka Day is meant to promote the image of Oka land. It is a festival that brings the sons and daughters of Oka land together, once every year.
He appreciated Governor Aiyedatiwa for gracing the occasion and also the Oba Adeleye for upholding the customs and traditions the town.
He commended the mentality of the people for guiding culture of Oka land, urging them to continue to be good ambassadors of Oka land.
The Olubaka of Oka, Oba Yusuf Adebori Adeleye, appreciated the Governor's commitment to the growth and development of the State and the well being of the people.
The monarch appreciated the people's support for him and for their contribution to the development of the community.
Oba Adeleye hailed Governor Aiyedatiwa for the appointment of Boye Ologbese, Commisoner for Regional Integration and Diaspora Relation, Akogun Olugbenga Omole, Special Adviser on transport, Mr Olugbenga Abire, special assistant on new media and other Oka indigenes in his administration.
He assured Governor Aiyedatiwa of Oka Indigenes' total support at the forth coming gubernatorial election.
