Some critical Stakeholders have berated the attitude of some Civil Servants who are said to always be conducting long prayer sessions during office hours when they are supposed to be putting in their best for the advancement of Ondo State.
Those who spoke with thenewstrack.com described such actions as unpatriotic and unscriptural saying there is time for everything.
Our crew visited some offices in the early hours of Monday, December 14, 2020 and discovered that even at 9am, some workers were still conducting morning prayers.
This is happening at a time when nations of the world, including Nigeria, are struggling with economic prosperity and productivity in the midst recession due to the adverse effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
A source, who preferred anonymity, wondered why "such prayers are not said in their individual houses before coming to work or at their different churches yesterday. If truly they're serving God, then they should know that it is wrong to defraud government by not putting in their best during work hours."
"The Holy Scriptures are clear about this. That is why it is often said that one should give unto ceasar that which is Ceasar's and unto God what is God's. Why then should government workers also be using prayer meetings to be disturbing neighbouring offices and outlets every other Monday and in some cases, other days?" the source added.
Some of the stakeholders who expressed worry about the development called on the head of the Ondo State Civil Service, Mr. Dare Aragbaye, to address the issue alongside other matters that can enhance the productivity of the public service.
