The workers of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, OSOPADEC have issued a three day ultimatum to the Management of the Commission to pay their October 2020 Salary and other emoluments as approved by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.
The workers made up of the Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees (AUPCTURE) at the end of their Congress held in Oba- Ile head of the commission, threatened to down tools if their salaries are not paid
The Acting Chairman of the workers' union, Comrade Ademuwagun Sola, said that the workforce has been putting pressure on the management for over 2months after the governor directed that their October salary be paid.
He however accused the State Accountant General, Mr Laolu Akindolire of deliberately refusing to release funds in this regard.
He said, " A 7 day ultimatum was issued to the Management on the 9th of December, 2020, which expires today 16th December 2020 but to our dismay, the Management did not deem it necessary to bring members of the union Executives to a round table for discussion.
"As a follow up to the first notice, a three day ultimatum has been issued to the OSOPADEC Management to immediately pay their salaries and other emoluments as graciously approved by Mr Governor"
The workers appealed to all well-meaning stakeholders in the state to help them prevail on the Accountant General of the State to release funds to this effect, without further delay.
