Rotimi Akeredolu, governor of Ondo state on Saturday said the reasons given by workers in the state to down tool work are not new to his government.
The workers under the aegis of
Joint Public Service Negotiations Council, had on Friday threatened to embark on an industrial action strike over the failure of the state government to settle their outstanding salaries, leave bonus and other entitlements pending over the years
But Akeredolu in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Donald Ojogo, said the issues and demands raised by the agitated workers in their letters were also not peculiar to the state alone.
The governor explained that the state has been going through unpleasant economic challenges following the drastic drop in both federation allocation account and internally generated revenue.
"It is on record that as at today, Ondo State ranks among those states with a higher level of worker-friendliness among the comity of States in Nigeria," the statement read.
"Our inherited liabilities as well as unforeseen occurrences notwithstanding, this culture of commitment shall be heightened.
"In this regard, Mr. Governor will meet the leadership of all such concerned bodies between Monday 13 and Wednesday 15 of July 2020, this is with a view to engendering a very robust engagement and interface.
"Government, therefore, uses this medium to appeal to all workers to await the outcome of these series of engagements aimed at deepening Industrial harmony."
