The second runner up in the just concluded PDP governorship primary in Ondo state, Dr Eddy Olafeso has pledged his readiness to work with the party's candidate, Mr Eyitayo Jegede, SAN, to win the October 10 election.
Speaking with newsmen after receiving Jegede who visited him at his residence at Alagbaka-Akure, Olafeso said the ruling APC government in the state would be defeated by the PDP candidate in the forthcoming election if all stakeholders rally round him.
Olafeso, an aspirant during the primaries who came third with 175 votes disclosed that he was ready to support Jegede only if he is willing to seek his cooperation.
Out of the 2111 delegates who voted during the primaries, Jegede who was the standard bearer of the party in 2016 polled 888 votes to emerge the winner while his closest rival, the Deputy Governor of the state, Hon. Agbool Ajayi scored 657 votes.
Olafeso came third in the contest with 175 votes while Bode Ayorinde polled 95 votes with Banji Okunomo scoring 90 votes.
According to Olafeso while speaking with newsmen in Akure, Ondo State capital on the out come of the primaries, he said his desire was to give a facelift to Ondo State amidst of what he described as backwardness.
He emphasized that the state required a turnaround and as well repositioned for the overall benefits of its entire citizenry.
The former Information Commissioner expressed confidence that Jegede has the capable to reenact People's oriented projects as executed in the state by the previous civilian administrations.
Olafeso, a former PDP national vice chairman (southwest zone), said he had accepted the outcome of the exercise in good faith, charged the winner of the primary to bring everybody in the PDP together for a successful outing in October, this year.
Olafeso said "I pray that the flag bearer, Barr Eyitayo Jegede, SAN will be able to encapsulate our dream. Our desire is to raise economic programme that can usher in prosperity to our people.
"He must take a look at our educational sector, look at the health programme left behind by Dr. Olusegun Mimiko. He must also ensure that the party is fun efficiently.
"We must bring back the glorious times of Papa Ajasin, Papa Adefarati, Olusegun Agagu and Olusegun Mimiko if we are to continue to move on in this state.
Olafeso added that "our support to Jegede is not going to be a blanket support. He will have to tell us what is the need for us. If our candidate is willing to seek for our cooperation then at a very formal and informal level we will have to talk. Most of what needed to be done rest with him."
In a remark, the PDP governorship candidate, Mr Eyitayo Jegede said his visits to his co-contestants were part of his immediate efforts to foster unity and cohesion in the party to enable him win the coming election.
