A formerederal lawmaker, Hon. Kolawole Babatunde, On Sunday, said the departure of Ondo State Deputy Governor, Hon Agboola Ajayi, and the erstwhile Secretary to the state government, Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde, from Akeredolu's government will not hamper the reelection bid of the Governor.
The former lawmaker who doubles as the special adviser to the Governor on rural and community development noted that the Governor's unbeatable achiements will coast him to victory.
Kolawole made the disclosure in an exclusive interview with our correspondent.
According to him, he said the Deputy Governor's defection bereft political fragrance.
He stated further that some members of the public had speculated earlier that Agboola will move with some top echelons in the cabinet to PDP, but all was just a deceit at the crescendo.
His words: "Akeredolu's achievements will coast him to victory. The departure of the Deputy Governor and SSG will not affect the reelection bid of the Governor"
"When Agboola was leaving our party, it was reportedly said, that he will go with some Bigwigs in the cabinet, but all was in total fiasco"
The lawmaker, also said the SSG played an inconsequential roles while he was in Government.
He maintained that the duo left the party without an iota of followers, noting that it is a clear totem that their departure will not affect Akeredolu's Second term bid.
However, the special adviser, said Akeredolu was never disqualified in the screening exercise of the All Progressives Congress, stressing that the Governor will participate in the Primary election coming up in few days time.
He urged the general public not to lay credence to the widely rumour, making round on social media about the disqualification of the Governor.
Recalled that Ojo Oyewamide, special adviser to the Governor on media and Publicity, had debunked the rumour of the disqualification in a statement.
According to Oyewamide, "The widely circulated rumour, especially on the social media that the Ondo State Governorship Election Screening Committee of the APC has disqualified Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN from participating at the Party Primary scheduled for July 20 is untrue"
"This is yet another distraction unleashed with the aim of deceiving the unsuspecting public and diverting attention from the self-imposed pains on the part of those behind the story. It is clearly, coming from those who have chosen the perfidous political path"
"Governor Akeredolu is not just participating at the Party Primary. He shall be re-elected by the Grace of God come October10, 2020"
"The Governor therefore, appeals to all his supporters to ignore the rumour and dedicate this period to God for His continuous grace, favour and protection"
"It's a ploy to distract you. They are scavengers and will stop at nothing to sustain their trade of deceit. Ignore them. Remain firm. Be dedicated and be prayerful", the Governor says.
