Tajudeen Adefisoye, the member representing Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency of Ondo State, has commenced distribution of relief items to his constituents.
Adefisoye told newsmen on Saturday in Idanre that the exercise, which would cover more than 5,000 constituents, was part of his efforts to bring succour to the people in the face of the sit-at –home directive to check the spread of the coronavirus.
The Nigeria News Agency reports that the relief items distributed included rice, beans, garri, noodles, sugar and hand sanitisers.
Adefisoye said he also directed the distribution team to immediately embark on aggressive door-to-door enlightenment of the constituents on the danger of coronavirus and ways to avoid being infected.
"All necessary things have been put in place to enlighten residents of my constituency on the need to observe basic hygiene, social distancing and self-isolation.
"We have also gotten enough essential food items that will go round at least 5,000 of my constituents in this first batch," he said.
Adefisoye also gave an assurance that he would not hesitate to distribute another set of relief items to more of his constituents if the ongoing lockdown was extended beyond two weeks.
"While the distribution of the first batch of food items and hand sanitisers are already ongoing, we are also working toward making provision for another batch that will go round more than 5,000 of my constituents in the event of an extension of this lockdown," Adefisoye said.
