The Akure Motor Park in Ondo City, headquarters of Ondo West Local Government area of the state was thrown into confusion last Monday following the death of a middle-age man, whose name was given as Boluwaji Ademuyiwa, who was said to have slumped and died after eating plantain chips he bought at the motor park.
Meanwhile, the report concerning the death of the deceased, who was until his untimely demise was said to be a worker in one of the local governments in the area and attached to the rate department in the council was still sketchy as at the time of filing this report.
It was reliably gathered that the deceased who was also a member of the National Union of Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (NURTW) and owned a commercial car plying Ondo enroute Bolorunduro town along Ondo/Akure highway was hale and healthy on the fateful day when he left his house located along Barrack's road, Ondo city, at about 8:30 am to the motor park when the incident occurred.
A source in the motor park said the late Ademuyiwa was said to have earlier complained of chest pains and need to rest. He was said to have later bought plantain chips and ate.
The source further stated that few minutes later, the late Ademuyiwa was said to have slumped after eating the plantain chips and was rushed to a private hospital located few meters away to the motor park by some of his colleagues and other sympathizers who rushed to the scene of the incident.
All efforts made by the doctors to revive him was said to have proved abortive, as he was later confirmed dead.
Meanwhile the death of the late local government staff said to be in his early 40's has continued to generate reactions, most especially among his colleagues and the people in his place of work.
Some attributed the cause of the death of the man to cardiac arrest, while some attributed it to "magun" otherwise called thunderbolt.
When our correspondent visited the motor park where the deceased was always sigthed, the whole area was deserted, while few people who were seen in the place, were standing in groups discussing the development.
As at the time filing this report, the remains of the late NURTW member has been buried by his colleagues in his house after series of arguments between his colleagues at the motor park and his wife who is also a staff of the local government, while normal activities have begun at the motor park.
