Igbekebo gets new monarch after 2 years

The kingmakers in Igbekebo, Ese Odo Local Government of Ondo State has selected Hon. Prince Dele Dabo has the new Odogun of Igbekebo kingdom.

The stool has been vacant since 2016 after the demise of His Royal Majesty Oba Emmanuel Omotumilara Eginkunyomi who ruled the kingdom for 23 years.

The selection of the new monarch which took place at the Igbekebo civic center, Igbekebo was keenly contested among five other princes from the Maga Okotun ruling house and other ruling houses in Igbekebo before prince Dele Dabo of the Maga ruling house was selected in a voting process.

After his selection, Prince Dele Dabo was taken to the palace of the Kalasuwe of Apoi land, His Imperial Majesty Oba (Prof) Sunday Ademiluga Amuseghan for traditional rites and blessing.

Oba Ademiluga prayed for the new monarch to live long and that his reign will bring about speed and rapid development not only to Igbekebo but the entire Apoi land.

Also, the chairman of the kingmakers, Chief Alex Mehin congratulated the new king on his selection and therefore appealed to him to work with other contestants and if possible seek their advice when necessary in the overall interest of the community.

In his goodwill message, High Chief Folarin Dabo, The Obateru of Apoi Land congratulated the new monarch and prayed that God will direct his path as he desires to take Igbekebo to greater heights.

The new monarch in his speech thanked the entire people of Igbekebo for their massive support during the selection process.

He equally extended his appreciation to the State Government through the Igbekebo Local Government for their support.

He also extended his hands of fellowship to his co-contestants so as to develop the ancient community together.

He promised to build on the legacy of his forefathers by transforming the cultural heritage, infrastructure and social development of the community.
