As part of the efforts of his administration to improve on the provision of potable water and make water available for urban dwellers, the Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, today inspected the newly-built Kamomi Aketi Urban Water Kiosk.
The new Kamomi Aketi water Kiosk is a new technology whereby people use digital card to fetch clean and safe water.
The Commissioner for Water Resources and Hygiene, Mrs Yetunde Adeyanju, described the project as the first of its kind in Nigeria.
She added that the Federal Ministry of Water Resources has visited the state to understudy the new water scheme, with the hope of replicating it across the country.
According to her, the Kamomi Aketi Urban Water Kiosk at NEPA and Oshinle in Akure South Local Government Area of the state serves as the pilot project, stressing that the project will be spread across urban areas in the 18 local government areas of the state.
The Kamomi Aketi Urban Water Kiosk is an upgrade and a new technology meant to provide clean and safe water for the people in the Urban areas.
This is coming on the heels of the successful rehabilitation of over 2000 water facitilities across the state.
The Kamomi Aketi project, which has seen many communities spread across the state enjoy clean water for the first time after many years, has earned Governor Akeredolu accolades from several quarters.
