The Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu, says the Commission has fixed September 19, 2020 for the governorship election in Edo and October 10, 2020 for the gubernatorial Ondo state.
Briefing newsmen in Abuja today, Thursday, February 6, 2010, Yakubu noted that the Commission has also deregistered 74 political parties.
This suggests that only 18 political parties survived the deregistration process.
The commission carried out a review of the performance of political parties after the 2019 general elections to see which parties qualify to exist.
