According to Nwachukwu, Mimiko's leadership attribute endeared him to the heart of the people and made him remain relevant even after leaving office.

He said, "When Dr Mimiko was in power I was in this state, before he came to power, I've always been on ground here and after his administration, we had to do comparison and honestly he beat the imagination of a lot of people.

"Through his exemplary leadership style he taught us that if you're on the side of the people, no matter which political party you belong to, you will still win.

"That is why today, we are celebrating a man who had the gut to challenge the unchallengeable and we are using him as a reference point of what a leader should be so that others can learn. He is indeed a symbol of good governance."

In his remarks, a former state chairman of FIBAN in Ondo State, Comrade Bisi Ajiboye commended the former Governor for his support to the association while he was governor and after leaving office.
