Govt. begins demolition of illegal structures in Ondo

Determined to reduce the multiplicity of illegal structures across the state to zero, the Ondo state government has maintained its stand against illegal structures.

The state Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Prince Solagbade Amodeni, who was at De Choice Petrol Filling Station along Lagos-Benin express road, Ore frowned at the developer's non-compliance and recalcitrant nature despite the Ministry's warning during its initial visit to the station.

According to the Commissioner, the filling station is yet to be approved and even considered as it has within itself 20 fuel pumps, two kerosene pumps and two diesel pumps.

"On his instruction, the station had earlier this year, (2018), been Red-Marked and Demand Notice was issued, but the developer remained undaunted," he explained.

Prince Amodeni ordered the immediate arrest of the station manager, Mr. Kehinde Akintayo, who was at the site as at the time of the visit and promised that he would be charged to court accordingly.

The developer's action as stated by the Commissioner is not in conformity with the extant rules of physical planning and as such unacceptable and unpardonable.

The commissioner assured that no stone would be left unturned to ensure that people comply with the law and ethics of physical planning in the state.
