Ekiti 2018: PDP Picks Running Mate to Gov Candidate

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State has named the immediate past chairman of Ado Local Government Area, Deji Ogunsakin as the running mate to its Governorship candidate, Prof Kolapo Olusola.

The announcement was made by the incumbent governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose on his official twitter handle on Friday.

"Immediate past Chairman of Ado Local Government, Deji Ogunsakin will be the running mate to our Governorship candidate, Prof Kolapo Olusola," Fayose tweeted.


Prof. Kolapo Olusola-Eleka emerged the winner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary election last Tuesday.

A total of 1,968 delegates were accredited and voted at the primary poll with 7 votes declared invalid.

Out of the total of number of votes, as announced by leader of PDP electoral committee, Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta, Eleka scored 1,190 to defeat his only opponent in the race, a former Minister of Works and spokesman of the party, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, who polled 771 votes.

The governorship election in Ekiti State comes up on July 14, 2018.
