Kupolokun presenting the report of the Olokola Technical committee to Governor Akeredolu.Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu has said his administration will not abandon the Olokola Free Trade Zone project.
The governor gave the assurance while receiving in Akure, the report of the Technical Committee set up to reactivate the Olokola Free Trade Zone as well the Owena Oil and Gas and Energy Project headed by Chief Funsho Kupolokun.
He commended the committee for a job well done and expressed optimism that the report will guide his government to ensure all untapped deposits in the state are utilized to the maximum.
"We have the Ororo OML 95. We have the OPL 241. These are what a number of us called 'great assets'.
"We're ready to work with anybody. We are ready to partner anybody who's interested. These assets, particularly, oil blocks are veritable tools for economic development.
"The important thing is that we can't allow it to just lie down there and at the end of the day licenses are withdrawn," the Governor said.
Earlier, chairman of the technical committee, Funsho Kupolokun identified three major aspects which include Ororo OML 95, Oil Protecting License (OPL) 241, and Olokola Free Trade Zone that relate to oil and gas.
He said the committee met with various stakeholders and experts in this regard to assist their work.
He implored the governor to keenly look into the recommendations for the development of the state
SUNSHINE HERALD recalled that Governor Akeredolu inaugurated a nine-man committee in April 2017 to reactivate the project.
The committee headed Engr. Funso Kupolokun, former Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has Mr. Jones Abiodun as secretary.
Other members of the committee are Dr. Deji Oyedele, Chief Akin Aruwajoye, Niyi Adegbonmire SAN, Mr. Juwon Falope, Dr. Funmi Cooker and Mr. Oluwafemi Akarakiri.
The terms of reference of the committee included reviewing all the work that has been done to date on planning and implementation of OK – FTZ to mention a few.
