Ondo State Government has appreciated the security agencies under the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government for their steadfastness, perseverance and commitment towards the security challenge facing the country.
It sought for the synergy among the security stakeholders in the country to enhance sustainability of the existing peace in the country.
Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, stated this during the courtesy visit of Participants of Course 11, Institute for Security Studies, Bwari , Abuja to his office.
The delegation of the institute was on study tour to the state for this year course of the institute with the theme "The Cultural Value and Democratic Governance: A Challenge of Ethnic Nationalism".
The institute also had its delegates in Bauchi , Edo and Kebbi States for the same exercise.
The governor, who commended the security agencies particularly the military, police, Department of State Service (DSS) and Civil Defence said the collaboration of everyone is the panacea to the security challenge in the country.
Akeredolu, represented by his Deputy, Hon. Agboola Ajayi, noted that the country is going through security challenges, as he stressed the need among politicians and security agencies to come together to address security issues before it escalated.
"We are all stakeholders in the project, now that Nigeria is going through security challenges. It requires the collaboration of everyone including military, DSS, police, civil defence. All of us must come together to address the security issue before it degenerated.
"To overcome security challenge, this can be achieved through your collaboration ( the Institute) and more synergy should be extended to political leaders"
While thanking the team of the institute for choosing the state for this year course, the governor assured the readiness of his government with the institute to boost the security of the state, saying that the collaboration is necessary even though there is no crisis in the state.
Earlier, the Deputy Director, Research and Analytical Support, Mr. Ralph Ameh, said the institute started the course in 2008 with the aim to collaborate with security agencies to tackle security challenge.
Ameh, explained that the course expanded to military and law enforcement and regulatory agencies, noting that in the course, 21 agencies are participating with the total of 50 participants.
He said the objective of the executive intelligence management course was to provide participants with solution to security issues for them to be effectively deal with challenges in whatever complex and dynamic situation or environment.
Ameh added that it targeted at enhancing analytical capacity of participants as well reducing inter agency rivalry and engendering synergy among security and law enforcement agency.
According to him, it improves on the competency and skill of participants to identify and deal with security threat as well as respond appropriately to security situation to prevent escalation.
