No fewer that six people has lost their lives in Iganbo town, Arogbo Ijaw in Ese Odo Local Government Area of Ondo state when a Church building under construction collapsed and fell on them.
It was gathered that the church, a white garment which is under construction was besieged by these people in an attempt to gather fire wood used in the Church building before they met their untimely death.
According to an eye witness, Mr. Monday Konwei, an information officer in Ese Odo local government area of the state. He gave the account that the victims were in the church premises to gather fire wood which was used in the church building before part of the dilapidated old structure and the one under construction fell on them and killed six people instantly .
He added that a man, whose name can not be identified as at the time of writing this report lost two of his wives .
The sad incident was confirmed to our correspondence by the Chairman, Ese Odo local government, Hon. Bekewe Olowu .
Olowu described the incident as shocking and devastating . He however condoled with the bereaved families and prayed that God should give the families the fortitude to bear the lost.
He added that a man who was simply identified as chief Ola Golabo lost his two wives, Beni and Magi Golabo to the incident while the pregnant woman, Dalen Gunubo was among the victims.
