Angry customer slaps bank official, destroys properties over illegal deductions in Ondo

Commercial activities within the headquarters of First Bank in Alagbaka akure were halted today as an aggrieved customer who walked into the bank and slapped a staff of the bank.

The customer believed to be in his late 30s held the back into ransom while alleging illegal deduction from his account by the bank

The sturdy man was noted to have stepped into the banking hall at about 1pm and headed straight for the customer care section where he slapped one of the personnel, a lady, for not capable enough to solve his problem.

As if that was not enough, the man was also reported to have destroyed about 5 computer sets and later smashed one of the money counting machines.

He then ordered all the workers to leave immediately.

'I will bring down this bank. Everybody should leave now.. I am a citizen of the country, why will they deduct my money without explanation..f**k everybody here..'

He flaunted his passport, ranted as the banking hall was filled with more confusion

Customers as well all as workers all scampered for safety thinking his action was a prelude to a robbery operation.

In a bid to forestall chaos, a soldier who was in the bank at the time of the incident had walked up to the man and pleaded that he allow the authorities handle the case in an amicable manner which he bluntly refused.

Provoked by his action, the soldier went out of the bank and came in with no fewer than 6 heavily armed mobile policemen who immediately descended on the man.

He was later beaten by the mobile policemen before he was bundled into a waiting van.

The police authorities is yet to comment on the incident.

When SUNSHINE HERALD visited the bank later on, the bank had closed for activities.

The security man who was at the gate didn't give any reason for the closure.

However, a staff of the bank who spoke with our reporter under a condition of anonymity explained what happened.

He said he customer destroyed many computers inside the bank.

This according to him was the reason for the closure.

Efforts to speak with the branch manager proved abortive, as she said she has been instructed not to speak with the press.
