Ondo state Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development has explained why it demolished a building at the Owo Government Reserved Area (GRA).
The Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban development, Prince Solagbade Amodeni said the structure was demolished after government had served the owner all necessary enforcement notices.
He said the building was an illegal structure on an approved road layout blocking an access road.
Amodeni, said the demolished structure contravened the Urban and Regional planning decree 88 of 1992, and section 9 and 17(7) of Ondo state building and subdivision regulations, 1984.
He noted that the GRA is one of the cherished government 's housing scheme and must not be abused by anyone.
He said the demolition exercise, is to show that government is serious about bringing sanity in the urban outlook of the state and to serve as a deterrent to others.
Amodeni advised the people to comply with town planning rules and regulations in order not to incurs the wrath of government.
