A mentally deranged woman who gave birth to a female baby at Ilutitun in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo state has had her baby named after the first lady of the state.
Passersby account has it that the woman whose real identity was yet unknown gave birth to the baby at a nearby bush.
Meanwhile, It was also gathered that passersby who saw the mad woman were in complete shock when she gave birth to the baby in the public.
No one has, however, claimed responsibility for the newly born baby.
However, the new baby has been named "Betty Morenike Akeredolu" after the wife of the Ondo State Governor, after a birth certificate was issued to her by Okitipupa Local Government who has also taken responsibility of the baby on behalf of the state government.
Residents who spoke to our reporter said the mentally deranged woman was in the habit of soliciting for alms in the street and sleep at any available makeshift shelter.
One of the residents, Dayo Abiola, said no one could actually tell who got the mad woman pregnant in the community.
"We were called this morning that a mad woman who always walks through our street has given birth to a baby.
"It was surprising when many of us got to the scene and saw the woman with her newly born baby lying on a dirty bed inside the rickety bush", he said.
Sources said the new baby will be taken care of by the state government while her mother (mad woman) had been moved to the correctional home of the ministry of women affairs.
