The Chairman of Okitipupa Local Government, Mrs. Morenike Alaka has commended members of Unity community in Okitipupa Local Government area of Ondo State for their initiatives in the area of communal efforts.
Alaka while welcoming representatives of the Landlords Association of the community, who paid a courtesy call on her in her office observed that they were the first set of people to pay such a visit since her assumption in office about ninety days ago.
"I am delighted for your visit and happy to welcome you. Your association is the first to pay me a visit since I assumed office about three months ago.
"Many of you may not know that I have my building in the same community where you are living. So I am happy to let you know that I am one of you.
"I want to assure you that as soon as fund is made available to this council for projects execution, our community will enjoy from it", she promised.
She however sought full cooperation and support of members of the community to her administration and that of the state as well.
Earlier in an address delivered by the chairman of the association on behalf of members, Chief Marcus Sola Ogunnowo thanked God for the appointment of the chairman.
He congratulated her for being the first female to administer the local government.
"Your appointment is a divine one because we are aware that you least expected it. We are aware that while many people struggled to occupy the office, you stayed away but God sent the governor to choose you.
"We therefore find it very expedient to come to your office to rejoice with you and congratulate you. We fervently pray that the Almighty God bestows on you divine wisdom with robust health to enable you steer the ship of the local government to the promise land.
"The association hereby seizes this opportunity to intimate you with some surmountable challenges though beyond the strength of the association.
"These include one of the adjoining streets in the neighbourhood (front of the paragon Hotel, Unity street and electricity poles and lines (even when there is no supply for now)," he demanded.
He informed that members of the Community have embarked on communed projects like maintenance of the street which past administrations have neglected, purchasing of electric poles and wives to by members of connects their residences and contributed money to install the transformer donated to the community in view of the of poles and wives that fall lying on the streets, Ogunnowo affirmed that the area is a danger 'zone if electricity which had become elusive since the past three years or there about should be restored.
"We are financially over-stretched. We therefore plead you to come to Macedonia and help us," he inferred.
