The Peoples Party of Nigeria (PPN) Chairman in Ondo state, Alhaji Hassan Aforolagba, has said that the party is still waxing stronger and in good shape ahead of the coming Local Government Election in the state .
He made the statement during an interview with The Hope at the party secretariat in Akure, the state capital .
Aforolagba assured that PPN's strength lies in the outcome of the last Governorship election in Ondo State where his party participated and was able to garner reasonable votes across the state, despite being a new party among the political parties in the state as at that time. He added that the feedback from the grassroots is encouraging.
He appreciated the All Progressives Congress-led administration in the state for how the party has been managing the affairs of the state in the last few months, saying the Governor did not see himself as a Governor of a particular party rather Governor for all.
"Despite being in opposition party, if the party in power does some good works, it is imperative that people should appreciate and praise them. But whenever they do otherwise, we will criticise them constructively. The era of politics of bitterness has gone in the country," he said.
He called on the current government to embark on unity government that will accommodate best hands from other political parties and some technocrats who can make things happen in the state.
Aforolagba who disclosed that his party is not part of any mega political party, said "we believe that in no distant time with the help of God, our party will become the toast of the masses in the country.
"We are not in hurry to take over government but come 2019 we will spring up surprise in this country in terms of electoral victory.
"I used my personal money with the help of some of our members to nurture this party in Ondo state. Nobody can lay claim that he financed the party."
