The League Management Company (LMC) has directed Sunshine Stars Football Club to play its Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) home matches behind closed doors indefinitely.
This was contained in a statement released by the club's Media Officer, Chris Okunnuwa.
The directive, according to him, is part of punishment measures levelled against the team following the unrest that ensued after the Sunshine Stars FC vs Lobi Stars Week 20 NPFL game on the 21st of May at the Ondo State Sports Complex, Akure.
The club, in a bid to comply with the directive, has informed the general public, particularly the fans and spectators that from their next NPFL match (Sunshine Stars FC – Enyimba FC) on Sunday 28th May 2017, the doors will be closed to all on their subsequent home matches, with the exemption of officials on match duties.
