Police parade Oniyani’s alleged kidnappers, popular radio presenter Gbenga Filani for alleged assault

The Nigeria Police, Ondo State Command on Thursday paraded a popular radio presenter in the state alongside four suspected kidnappers of the Oniyani of Iyani, Oba Joel Sunday Daodu, who was kidnapped sometimes in  April this year.

The popular radio presenter was arrested on the allegation that he participated in an assault on a lady alleged to have been caught stealing.

The lady was also said to have been stripped naked, while the radio presenter was alleged to have recorded the incident.

The lady according to the police was said to have sustained injuries on her body during the attack. The recorded incident was said to have been posted online, an act described as inhuman by the police.

During the parade, the State Commissioner of Police, Dr. (Mrs) Hilda Ibifuro-Harrison told journalists that the popular radio presenter should have been the best person to cover the young lady's nakedness, but instead allegedly joined the fray to beat up the lady and took her photograph.

The Police Commissioner also hinted that it took the intervention of some NGOs who rose up and reported the case to the Police before the presenter was apprehended.

On the suspected robbers, Ibifuro-Harrison said the man allegedly robbed one truck loaded with iron rods worth several millions of naira.

The police also paraded four suspected kidnappers of Oniyani of Iyani. She said that the suspect, one Usmar Ibrahim was allegedly caught with the currency used to pay for the ransom of the Oba.

The CP said that this was confirmed by the bank involved in the matter.

She assured that the others still at large will be apprehended and taken to court.
