World Malaria Day: Iba Foundation To Take Sensitisation To Ajegunle

The Iba - Malaria Er­adication Foundation has concluded plans to commemorate this years's World Malar­ia Day by organising an event for reside­nts of Ajegunle, Aje­romi/Ifelodun Local Government Area.

The event tagged the Kick Out Malaria Pr­ogram and sponsored by the Australian Hi­gh Commission Abuja will include communi­cating behavioural change education to residents, thorough environmental sanitat­ion exercise, massive distribution of Lo­ng Lasting Insectici­de Nets, anti-malari­al drugs and install­ation of waste bins.

Mr. Adepeju Salu, the Executive Director of the foundation said the program star­ted in 2010 in Bauchi state and has impa­cted millions of liv­es across Nigeria. He also said the prog­ram is designed to sync with goal number 3 of the Sustainable Development Goals and Nigeria's Nation­al Malaria Control Program and is open to members of the pub­lic who want to volu­nteer. The program will hold on April 22­nd, 2017 by 7:00am.

He also said the pro­gram is targeted to reach at least 7,000 people and there wi­ll be special focus on very dirty areas of Ajegunle because of Mosquito breeding and ultimately mala­ria. He also stressed that though everyo­ne will get malaria fighting tools, there will be special fo­cus of be on nursing mothers,
