Nigerians will forever remain indebted to former Head of State General Yakubu Gowon for keeping Nigeria united despite a civil war during his tenure in office.
Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN who stated this while playing host to the National delegates of the Bible Society of Nigeria in Akure added that General Gowon successfully ensured that he accomplished the task of keeping Nigeria as one indivisible nation.
Arakunrin Akeredolu observed with utmost satisfaction the life worthy of emulation which has distinguished the former Nigerian Leader as a living legend.
Governor Akeredolu assured that his administration will continue to be on the part of justice, equity and all-round development at Going On With One Nigeria.
The former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon used the opportunity of the visit to congratulate Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu on his inauguration as Governor of Ondo State and wished that the people of the state would take the advantage of the untainted character and connections of the governor to accelerate development of the Sunshine State
General Gowon who is the Patron of the Bible Society of Nigeria said no nation could overcome its challenges without God's knowledge and as such enjoined Nigerians to continually pray for national peace and unity
The former Nigerian Leader advised Nigerians to be patriotic irrespective of political, religious and economic challenges saying that with God it will be well with Nigeria.
Earlier, the BSN through its National President, Dr Aaron Nuhu, had presented a copy of the Legacy Bible that has four Nigerian languages with English Language to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu .
The Bible Society of Nigeria came to Ondo State for its 50th Annual National Board meeting.
