Chairman, Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE), Akure Branch, Engineer Oloruntoba Abe has commended the salutary steps being taken by the Ondo State government at fixing failed portions of roads across the state.
Describing the development as efforts in the right direction , Engineer Abe said it would help alleviate the sufferings citizens face for plying bad roads across the state.
In his appreciation of the efforts of the administration of Arakunrin Akeredolu on road rehabilitation and reconstruction within his first one month as governor of Ondo State, the Chairman of Sabo, Mr Amodu Abdullahi and Youth leader of Odo-Ijoka street, Mr Ayodeji Odeyemi, described the intervention as timely.The people who spoke to State House Reporters in Akure enjoined residents to always protect public utilities for longer life span.
The Chairman, Ondo State Agency for Road Maintenance and Construction (OSARMCO), Engr. Kehinde Oshikoya who took reporters round the ongoing rehabilitation of Ayetoro stret and Sabo areas in Akure, noted that the road maintenance programme of the new government of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has commenced.
Engineer Oshikoya told reporters that the ongoing work was consequent upon the directive of the governor during the last monthly Environmental Sanitation exercise. He expressed satisfaction that his agency complied with the directive on the two junctions off Oba Adesisada road in Akure in less than 48 hours.
The road maintenance agency according to the chairman is undertaking various road jobs raging from fresh road construction on virgin land, road reconstruction to rehabilitation and maintenance in different parts of Ondo State.
As the raining season gradually set in, the OSAMCO Chairman promised to address the prevalence of potholes that come with the season on roads across the state, so that vehicular movements would be smooth.
