The organised labour comprising the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, and Trade Union Congress, TUC, on Thursday embarked on a peaceful protest to the Presidential villa.

President of the NLC, Ayuba Wabba, while addressing the protesters before the march, said it was "criminal" for government not to pay salaries and pensions.

Wabba said the demand for upward review of workers' minimum wage "is non-negotiable."

"There is absence of good governance, with that absent, we are at the receiving end. So we march for good governance," he said.

This is coming few days after the #ISTANDWITHNIGERIA protesters took to the streets across the nation to protest the policies of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government.

Aggrieved protesters had similarly marched to the Presidential Villa, insisting their voices be heard but were prevented by security operatives from gaining access to the Villa.
