Ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in Ondo State, the Independent National Electoral Commission has expressed concern over the conflicting court orders besetting the candidacies of some political parties.

The commission, however, vowed that it would act within the purview of the law and make its decision known on Thursday,

The Director of Voter Education in INEC, Mr. Oluwole Osaze-Uzzi, gave the assurance, on Tuesday, in Abuja, during a roundtable over emerging issues on the Ondo State governorship election, organised by Conscience Nigeria, a civil society organisation.

According to him, INEC would publish the list of candidates eligible to represent the various political parties and put an end to the controversies surrounding the candidacies of some political parties.

The PUNCH recalls that the Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress are engulfed in a crisis over who should be their representatives in the Ondo State governorship election.

He described as an aberration attempts by some persons to emerge as the candidates of their parties through the courts, adding that the desire of INEC was "for the political parties to determine their candidates and not the courts."
