APC governorship candidate, Chief Rotimi Akeredolu SAN, yesterday, barred members of his Campaign Committees from following him on electioneering campaigns. He said the presence of the committee members would cause a distraction and prevent him from knowing the real measure of his support among the people. Rotimi-Akeredolu Akeredolu said it would be wrong to be deceiving himself by renting crowds during the campaign tours just to give the impression that he has multitude of followers.

He spoke in Akure during the inauguration of the Akeredolu 672 campaign committee members . The candidate also said the committee members should not campaign for those who have defected to either PDP or AD. Seven directorates were also inaugurated yesterday, to help in the electioneering campaigns.

They include the Directorates of Youth Affairs, Women Affairs, Special Interest, Field Operations, Canvassers, Legal, and Communications. Akeredolu said he wanted to meet the people at the grassroots and tell them his plans.

"The challenge is not about visiting the local governments, leave that to few of us.  Kindly leave this tour with us. We don't want to carry people around. We want to meet people at their locations."

Akeredolu said the committee members should go back to their respective political units and mobilize for the party. He said he needed at least ten people as canvassers in each of the 3,009 polling units and with that, the party already has 33,000 votes in its kitty. He said if each of the ten canvassers could be able to bring at least ten people and the people vote for the party, the party's votes would be in hundreds. He said if the APC could have at least 100 votes in each of the polling units, the party would win the forthcoming governorship election with wide margin.

However, he warned against saboteurs as the party prepares for the polls. He said in as much as they needed more people in the directorates, they should desist from those who have joined the opposition political parties. "We have to identify saboteurs in our midst. We don't want them to destroy our homes for us. Please do not canvass to those who have decamped to Alliance for Democracy (AD) or People's Democratic Party (PDP).

The DG of the campaign committee, Victor Olabimtan, a former speaker of the House of Assembly who reeled out the names of the committee members asked the people to work conscientiously as the election is in their hands to either win or lose.

The former Speaker told the Chairmen of the committees to come with their reports within 48 hours. Chairmen of the committees include Prince Solagbade Amodeni, Mr. Moyosola Niran-Oladunni, Soji Alakuro, Rasheed Badmus, Alaba Isijola, Princess Oladunni Odu and Kola Olawoye.
