Akeredolu seeks more support for Buhari

A former President of the Nigeria Bar Association, Rotimi Akeredolu, has called for more support for the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration, saying the President is striving to fix the country's battered economy.

The All Progressives Congress governorship aspirant in Ondo State said this in a statement entitled, "Our quest for real recovery," issued on Thursday to mark this year's Democracy Day.

Akeredolu said that Buhari would fulfil his election campaign promises.

According to Akeredolu, Buhari's administration leaves no one in doubt as regards its readiness and capacity to turn things around and combat corruption.

This was just as the governorship aspirant said the "President's exemplary courage to confront this hope-wrecking menace is yielding positive dividends."

Akeredolu said many honest citizens agreed that the victory of President Buhari in the last general election saved the country from collapse, adding that "beyond the easy expectation of immediate but deceptive change in the polity, this government has displayed sufficient ingenuity in its grasp of the intricate nuances of the socio-economic challenges."

He said, "The current administration is striving strenuously to redirect the itinerary from assured misery and deprivation, made possible by a mono-economic structure which promotes unbridled consumption, to the path of real growth and consequent development."

"The Buhari-led government inherited a near-empty treasury from the immediate past administration. The profligacy of the ousted ruling party is legendary. Revelations of brazen acts of malfeasance are mind-boggling.

"At this juncture in our journey to recovery, all good people must encourage Nigerians to be patient with the current administration as it settles to fix the battered economy."
