The governor made the appeal in Akure on Wednesday, May 4, at a meeting of PDP leaders in the South West.
He stressed the need for all party members to come together as one big family.
"Our mission is to get our acts together and recreate the nature of politics in the South West.
"There is no alternative to unity in the South West at this time.
"The time has come not to think of how right you are, but how prepared you are to take on the challenges facing us,'' he said.
He noted that the differences between him and Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose has been put to rest in the interest of the region and the future of the party.
Fayose who spoke said the party needs to forge ahead and be united in order to move forward.
He said that he is willing to support any interest that will meet the highest goals of the South West even if he would be adversely affected.
Fayose said that he will continue to speak boldly against injustice, so long as he is speaking the truth.
The PDP chieftains in attendance at the meeting include: Bode George, Ebenezer Babatope, Iyiola Omisore, Doyin Okupe,Jimi Agbaje, Mulikat Adeola-Akande,Jumoke Akinjide, Debo Anisulowo, among others.
