The leaders of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the six Local Government areas of Ondo North Senatorial District have declared their unalloyed support for the leader of PDP and the state governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko towards strengthening the party ahead of the November 26, 2016 governorship election.
To this end, they agreed to gear up effort to further entrench unity among party leaders and members across the state to produce a governor that will sustain and renew the initiatives of the present administration led by the Governor.
The leaders stated this in a communique issued at the PDP Ondo Northern Senatorial District meeting held at the Deputy Governor's Lodge, Government House Grounds, Akure, the state capital.
The leaders resolved to mobilise and work with the party in the Senatorial district to produce a worthy successor who will continue the lofty programmes of Governor Mimiko and further develop the state.
The Deputy Governor, Alhaji Abdulazeez Oluboyo assured the people of the state that PDP will produce a governor who will lead with renewed and redefined strategies and admirable leadership style.
Oluboyo said the right candidate will be elected to represent the best interest of the people, saying there would be no place for ethnic prejudice, and selfish motive at the expense of the state progress.
According to the communique issued at the end of the meeting, the people of Ondo North will henceforth speak with one voice and pursue unity of purpose on issues that affect the growth and development of the land and her people especially as regards the strengthening of the Peoples Democratic Party ahead of the November 2016 elections.
'That all sons and daughters of Ondo North that are interested in contesting the November 2016 Governorship election should show their intentions and let our zone quickly decide ahead of the primary elections.
'That as much as possible, all gubernatorial aspirants from ONDO North should play by the rules and put the interest of the party and people at heart. That the people of Ondo North deeply appreciate the intervention of Dr.Olusegun Mimiko led administration in the area of infrastructure, social amenities and political appointments. The people also called on the government for more projects, especially on roads.'
Local Government Areas of Ondo North Senatorial District include: Akoko North East, Akoko North West, Akoko South East, Akoko South West, Ose and Owo Local Government.
In attendance were the Deputy Governor of the State, Alhaji Abdulazeez Oluboyo, Senatorial officers of the party, former and serving members of the state executive council and House of Assembly of Ondo North extraction, top male and female PDP leaders, former and serving local government chairmen, party officials, political appointees and other distinguished sons and daughters of Ondo North Senatorial District.
The communique was signed by Dr. Lanre Adeleye, Chief Olu Ogidan, Chief Lawrence Adunbiaro, Mr. Akin Adaramola,Chief (Mrs) Aduke Olugboja, Barr Tunde Atere, Hon Kuti Towase, Hon. Bamiduro Dada, RT. Hon. Dare Emiola, Ch. (Mrs) Folake Sarunmi, Arole Dennis Alonge-Niyi, and Dr. Alaba Ojomo.
