Niger Assembly to Jonathan T Vatsa: Take a bow and go

The Niger State House of Assembly on Thursday honoured the All Progressives Congress spokesman in the state, Comrade Jonathan Vatsa, when he appeared before the House to be screened as a commissioner in the Niger State Executive Council.

Vatsa, after running through his curriculum vitae, was unanimously asked to take a bow.

This was not unconnected with his role before, during and after the general elections.

The Speaker, Marafa Ahmed Guni, unveiled him alongside Mamman Musa, another nominee, as sent to the House by Governor Abubakar Sani Bello for confirmation.

The lawmakers had screened eight nominees earlier sent to the Assembly Bello.

The names were read at plenary by Guni at exactly 11:30am on Thursday.

Among those screened so far are Alhaji Idris Abubakar Azozo from Gurara, Aliyu Mohammed Tantwagi from Wushishi and Mohammed Nda from Lavun.

Others include Aliyu Abdullahi form Agaie, Haliru Zakari Jinkatoro from Agwara, Roseline Abara-Sani from Shiroro and Abdulmalik Usman Cheche from Katcha.

Those screened on Wednesday were Kabiru Abbas Musa, Barrister Danmallam Nasara, Alhaji Ibrahim Balarebe and Rahmatu Yar'adua, while Dr. Mustapha Jibrin and Fatima Madugu will appear before the Houseon Friday.
