Controversy continues to trail the murder of one Alhaji Olatunji Rasaq, popularly called Alhaji Gay, who was killed by some assailants a couple of weeks ago in Alagbado area of Lagos state.
The last is yet to be heard of the incident that led to his death, as more suspects have been apprehended to join those arrested earlier.
It would be recalled that about 2 weeks ago, Alhaji Gay was murdered during a disagreement between landlords and residents in the community, led by one Chief Nojeem Abioye, over land dispute.
DAILY POST gathered that Abioye, the Baale of Temidire Alagbado, his son, and nine others have been arrested and detained over the weekend. This was confirmed by the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, who said 10 suspects, including Chief Abioye, were in Police custody at SDCII, Yaba, adding that investigations are ongoing.
However, Chief Abioye in his defense said: "The community organized the protest because of the activities of Tunji Alaso. The protest was a peaceful one until he came and disrupted it with his thugs."
"How Alhaji Gay died, I have no idea; it was only a peaceful protest we had," the chief stated.
"The purpose of the conference was to create awareness in the area and to tell the world that Tunji has been threatening the peace of the community with his thugs as he was selling off people's land which were vacant and even those that are under construction," he added.
