Boko Haram kills 8 in Yobe •Destroys link bridge

EIGHT people were killed by suspected members of the Boko Haram sect in an invasion of Katarko town, Yobe State.

In the attack which reportedly lasted from about 7.30 p.m on Monday to 2.00 a.m on Tuesday, the insurgents shot sporadically, leading to the killing.

Katarko, 22 kilometres south of Damaturu, and a community in Gujba Local Government Area of the state, is also renowned as a fortress for Boko Haram insurgents in the state.

Eyewitnesses held that the attackers headed to the military base in the town and afterwards beseiged Kartako, where they carried out selective killings. 

Similarly, the insurgents also destroyed a section of the bridge linking Buni Yadi and Damaturu
