Independent National Electoral Commission has engaged 7,941 ad-hoc staff for the June 21 Governorship Election in Ekiti State.
State Resident Electoral Commission, Alh. Halilu Pai, disclosed this to journalists in Ado-Ekiti on Saturday.
He explained that the ad-hoc staff were Youth Corp members, while the rest were students of Federal tertiary institutions.
He also said some permanent voter cards had been transferred from other states to Ekiti based on request.
According to him, about 400,000 of the registered 766,132 permanent voter cards have been collected as of last check.
He said of the 7,941 ad-hoc staff, 2,195 mainly corp members will work as Presiding Officers , while 5,606 will work as Assistant Presiding Officers.
Others are 220 supervisors (corp members and students), 177 ward collation officers , 16 collation officers at Local Government and one state collation officer.
Pai revealed that N11,000 made up of N7,000 as honorarium and N4,000 as basic transport fare each for the corp members had been paid into the account of Ekiti State office of NYSC.
