Following the building collapse which led to the death of two persons in Igoba area of Akure, the Ondo state capital, the state government has set up a committee to look critically into the issue in helping to prevent re-occurrence.
The committee, chaired by the State Commissioner for Works, Engr Gboye Adegbenro, pledged their readiness to thoroughly pursue its mandate to address the issue and proffer solutions to avoid such occurrence in the future.
The Chairman of the committee, Engr Gboye Adegbenro said the committee will go into details as to what led to the collapse of the building, check the design as well as the supervisor of the project.
Adegbenro, while highlighting the programmes of the committee, stressed that the owner of the collapsed building will also be invited for questioning, assuring of the committee's readiness to step up effort to ensure the issue is adequately addressed as well as prevent any future occurrence.
The 5-man committee is expected to submit its report to the state government in two weeks.
